Our Obedience Programs are designed to provide your dog with the skills and manners needed to be a well-behaved and confident companion. Whether your pet is a playful puppy or an older canine seeking a refresher course, our obedience programs offer the perfect path to a lifelong partnership filled with trust and joy.
We are passionate about helping dogs and their owners build strong connections through effective communication. We offer both on-leash and off-leash obedience programs to help achieve your dog training goals. These programs are not just about obedience; they’re about fostering a deeper bond between you and your four-legged family member.
Our program costs include all appropriate training tools such as E-collars and prong collars. We will discuss which tools are appropriate – and how to use them – throughout our training program.

Basic Obedience (On-Leash)
Our on-leash basic obedience program is designed for dogs who have never had any formal dog training in the past. This program will teach your dog their fundamental obedience cues, in addition to teaching them the basics of good canine behavior and manners.
In this program, your dog will learn the following commands:
- Sit
- Down
- Heel
- Recall
- Place
The program also includes the following:
- Addressing and resolving minor nuisance behaviors, such as jumping up on people or counter surfing
- Leash etiquette around strangers or walking past dogs
- Improving and generalizing behavior in dog-friendly settings, such as an outdoor coffee shop, home improvement stores, etc.
Off-Leash Obedience
Our off-leash obedience program takes your dog’s training to the next level, for ultimate control of your dog in a variety of settings.
In addition to everything that is included in the On-Leash program, our Off-Leash program places a greater emphasis on conditioning. Eventually, your dog will be E-collar trained. Our E-collar training is carried out systematically and you will be shown how to utilize the E-collar correctly.

AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
We also offer training for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) award. This title is awarded to dogs who can pass a series of tests which demonstrate appropriate behaviors in public. Contact us to learn more!
Competition Level Obedience
At K9 Evolutions Dog Training, we also offer specialized programs for owners who either intend to compete with their dog in obedience competitions or just want their dog to have more advanced concepts trained in.
Before your dog can be enrolled in this program, we will carry out an evaluation to ensure they are a good fit for this program. Oftentimes, genetic traits can have an outsized influence on a dog’s aptitude and trainability for competition and obedience.
If your dog is a good fit for this program, they will learn the following commands:
- A straight Sit
- A straight non-crooked Down
- ‘Stand’ command with implied Stay
- Down in motion
- Touch-pad
- Back up
- ‘Finishes’ command to bring the dog in a swing to your side or between your legs
- ‘Front’ command where the dog goes from the Heel position to in front of you.
- Contact and/or focused Heel
- Recall speed improvement
Is An Obedience Program Right For You?
When considering your dog training options, you may be wondering which option may suit you best – Board and Train or Private Lessons?
There are several factors to consider here, and we do believe that Board and Train programs yield the best results due to the consistency and repeatability of the training under the guidance of a professional dog trainer. However, if you are more budget-conscious, private lessons may be ideal for you.
It is important to understand that private lessons require a commitment of time and effort on your part in order for them to succeed. In between our weekly sessions, you will need to put the work in at home to ensure the dog is able to learn and retain the behaviors we are trying to teach them. We will work alongside you every step of the way to help you achieve your dog training goals and guide you on how to effectively work with your dog in the time between lessons.
